I have written a
poem dedicated to a fire fighter friend who lived outside of
Cleveland in Northfield Village. He passed away recently and I'd be honored
if you would use my poem on your site.
==========================================
Our Heroes'
Every now and then a hero will fall
When we least expect it, the challenge great or small
Charging into battle with no thought of fame
Saving a life or winning the game
There's a job to be done and they'll step up every time
In conditions that are almost never sublime
With courageous souls and immortal hearts
Their steps never falter, always doing their part
They're our super hero's, almost able to fly
Until fate walks in to silence their cry
Leaving us behind with lessons to learn
Hoping we'll be willing to take our turn
Lending our strength to those whom might fail
The weak, the sick, the young, the frail
But it's never the same as those who went before
We can't walk in their shoes, we can't even the score
So we'll remember with pride all the battles they've won
The lessons they've taught, our days in the sun
And pray that in heaven someday we'll unit
To take up the battle, to continue the fight
