David
May Jr. and his wife Linda currently reside in Cleveland, TN. They have
one son, David May III, and one daughter Darlia.
David joined the fire service in 1967 as a firefighter and steadily
progressed through the ranks until 1973 when he was promoted to the rank
of Assistant Chief. He held this position until March 20 1981 when he was
appointed as Chief of the Cleveland Fire Department. May served as Chief
for 14 years before
announcing his retirement, after 33 years of service, in July 1995. |
Chief May
brought many new ideas to the department during his tenure and contributed
greatly to the success of the department. He is currently serving as a
Councilman for the Cleveland City Council. |
